Ceiling Fan Installation

DOES YOUR CEILING FAN DANCE? WOBBLE, SHIMMY, KNOCK, OR GRIND?

WE CAN HELP!!

Many common ceiling fan nuisance problems occur because of improper installation. Ceiling fans are required to be mounted to a ceiling fan rated junction box, which is rated for the size and weight of the ceiling fan. Having the proper box installed correctly can prevent most wobbling problems.

However, that may not be your only problem. Neglecting to properly balance the blades is another common mistake homeowners make when installing their own ceiling fans.

And what about all those small parts and pieces, screws, nuts and washers? Multiple trips up and down the ladder to retrieve dropped parts. Call the ceiling fan experts at Big Island Electric to install your fan safely and correctly the first time.

WILL USING A CEILING FAN REDUCE MY POWER BILL?

A common misunderstanding among Big Island homeowners is that ceiling fans actually reduce the temperature in a room and allow lower air conditioning settings as a way to save on electricity costs. In reality, in the summer a ceiling fan with blades rotating counter-clockwise creates what is called a “wind-chill” effect by evaporating moisture on our skin. On a hot and humid summer day, this “wind chill” effect can make the room feel at least seven degrees cooler so that you can avoid running the air conditioning even when the actual room temperature is in the mid-eighties.

In the winter months the room can actually be made warmer by rotating the ceiling fan blades clockwise and forcing warm air from the ceiling down into the living area.

At Big Island Electric, we understand that using a ceiling fan can reduce your energy usage by circulating the air in your room making it feel either cooler or warmer depending on the season.
